Stock up for Summer with Beautiful Coastal Pieces by Bancroft Studios!

Oh heck - these pieces are not just for summer - they are just delightful to use all year long!

Brooke Pickering of
Bancroft Studios - and fellow Boston Handmade member - has become a good friend of mine over the past months. We live a stones throw away from each other on the beautiful North Shore, MA coast in Salem & Marblehead. I first discovered Brooke's work on Etsy - and was so impressed by her workmanship - she just had to join Boston Handmade... and of course she was accepted!

She uses the love for the coast in all of her work - as each collection is "ocean inspired". All pieces are hand poured in a slip cast method, hand painted and hand finished in her Salem, MA studio. Besides her stunning pottery - she does these amazing wall plaques that can be
viewed & purchased here!

The following collections can be viewed and purchased directly from
wwww.bancroftsudios.com - The Marblehead Collection, The Chesapeake Bay Collection, The Cape Cod Collection, The Blue Star & Green Shell Tableware, The Coral Collection and the Seaweed Collection. The Cape Cod collection particularly takes her a good deal of time with all the detail that goes into the hydrangeas. They all are so different, detailed & vibrant that you can't go wrong with any.

Bancroft Studios deals heavily in wholesale - so if interested drop her a line! Check out Brooke Pickering's work at her following shop locations: wwww.bancroftsudios.com ~ Bancroft Studios on Etsy ~ Bancroft Studios on 1000 Markets.

New for Spring & Summer 2009 - Sea Glass Flip Flops!

You heard it right - I have just launched my line of all new and original sea glass flip flops. These are made with hand picked sea glass from the North Shore - MA. Each pair has the drilled glass applied... each pair is hand beaded and tied. Only the finest components are used... natural stones, glass beads, freshwater pearls, shell beads, swavorski crystals and more!

Sink your feet into the best quality Havaianas - 100% buttery soft rubber from Brazil. These are, in my opinion, the best and most durable flip flop on the market. Each pair is made with care - and the more involved ones take an entire day to make. These are already getting a lot of attention so get them now and start the trend!

Shop my store - Sea Glass Things - to purchase or contact me to special order! It is never to early to make your feet happy!

"Be Mine" The 2nd Annual Boston Handmade Valentine Show
Friday, February 6 ~ 5pm to 9pm
450 Harrison Avenue ~ Gallery #31 ~ 31 Thayer Street
South End, Boston, MA – Boston Handmade announces the 2nd Annual Be Mine Valentine

Show featuring hand crafted Valentines and gifts for friends, family, and lovers, to be held on Friday, February 6th, from 5-9pm at 450 Harrison Avenue.

Sponsored in part by GTI Properties and the individual members of Boston Handmade, this one-night-only event coincides with the First Friday open studios and gallery receptions in the SoWa arts district of Boston’s
South End.

Twenty local artists, artisans and craftspeople will be exhibiting their one-of-a-kind and limited edition works at Be Mine, which is the 2009 Boston Handmade debut after their successful 2008 Downtown Crossing holiday gallery. This special Valentine event includes live acoustic music by Peter Paulousky and new exhibitor designs created especially for the winter
season and Valentine’s Day.

Boston Handmade goes green by making clothing, accessories, paper goods, ceramics, housewares, art and jewelry by hand not by machine, locally rather than overseas, and often by upcycling, recycling, and using vintage materials. Works on view and available for sale at Be Mine include a range of media such as polymer clay jewelry by Betsy Baker of Stonehouse Studio, hand-spun cotton figurines by Crystal Hanehan of Vintage By Crystal, vegan friendly handmade soaps by DeShawn Marie, photographic mixed-media art by Jessica Burko, and handknit outerwear by Sedruola Maruska of Yarn Obsession and Sea Glass Wearables and Home Decor by Sea Glass Things. Visit Be Mine to find the perfect gift for all your Valentines.

Boston Handmade is a gathering of colleagues who support one another in the pursuit of creativity made by hand. All members of Boston Handmade are registered sellers on Etsy.com and are all based in Massachusetts. For more information visit http://www.bostonhandmade.org/

"The Clothes on Their Backs" Fashion Show

I am proud to have been invited to a local charitable event in which I will be a vendor this Thursday night at the Hawthorne Hotel in Salem, MA.

Jennifer Pieroni, from the The Salem Mission, along with Christine Robidoux, of Modern Millie, are presenting a fashion show - "The Clothes on Their Backs" to include items from J. Mode, Modern Millie and many more local stores in efforts to raise money for the Salem Mission. The Salem Mission helps the homeless in our local community in every aspect you can imagine - from transitioning to homes, clothing, providing meals, work and much more. As a vendor I will be donating 20% of my sales from this event to The Mission. I am always happy to support as many wonderful causes as I "can" in a calendar year. This will be one of the only four I will support for 2009.

You can read a fantastic article by the Taunton Daily Gazette about this upcoming event.

Event Details and ticket purchases can be found at The Salem Mission website.

When: Thursday ~ February 5th ~ 7PM

Hope you can swing by for a night of fun, fashion and shopping while supporting a good cause!
